Fort Worth’s Western Heritage

Fort Worth…Where the West Begins.

Uniquely, the FWPD is one of the very few law enforcement organizations in the United States that allows its officers to wear a cowboy hat as a part of their uniform. However, the FWPD does not provide these hats as a part of an officer’s uniform allowance.

In celebration of our western heritage, the Fort Worth Police Department Heritage Hat Program provides newly trained police officers with a voucher for a cowboy hat upon their graduation from the Fort Worth Police Academy.
